Britam Milele Health Plan is a health insurance cover targeting middle-class to high net-worth individuals and families as opposed to their affordable Bima Ya Mwananchi health plan.
Milele is categorised into four namely: Milele Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Essentials.
Milele Platinum is the most expensive and comprehensive medical insurance cover targeting high-net worth individuals and families and those looking for a broad hospital access.
Milele Essential is the most affordable plan for cost conscious individuals and families and for those in areas without Tier I and Tier II hospitals. It is suitable for individuals starting their health insurance cover journey.
Milele inpatient limits for all plans begin from KES 300,000, 500,000, 1,000,000, 2,000,000, 3,000,000, 5,000,000 to KES 10,000,000 shared by the insured.
Inpatient limits for all plans range from KES 30,000, 50,000, 70,000, 100,000, 150,000, and KES 200,000 shared by the insured or unshared (each insured member has their own independent inpatient limit at an additional cost).
Milele health insurance cover features a critical illness cash benefit across all inpatient limits.
NB: According to my experience, outpatient limit is what makes health insurance cover very expensive. My advice is always simple: if you have an emergency fund (if not, I can help you set one) leave out inpatient cover completely or just take the lowest limit to prevent the annual premium from shooting up.
Milele Health Plan eligibility age is 80 years and below and once you get in, the cover is for life with annual premium renewals.
Milele Health Plan has also other variants, which should be covered individually since they are very comprehensive and include Milele Junior (covers children) and Milele SME (covers employees of small and medium enterprises as a medical benefit from their employer).
In this write up, I shall cover all Britam Milele Health Plan categories in detail in terms of their medical inpatient and outpatient coverage and premium ranges.
Besides the national health insurance under Social Health Authority in Kenya, you do really need a supplementary private health insurance cover. National health insurance is your constitutional right, and nobody should take away that right from you, but you need a private medical cover that can go beyond the limitations of the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).
Here are Britam Milele Health Plan categories in detail from Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze to Essential.

Britam Milele Silver Health Plan: Starting From KES 12,132
Platinum, Gold and Silver plans are the top-notch plans.
They have very similar in terms of medical coverage and the only significant characteristic that sets them apart is the allocation of sub-limits to various diseases and conditions.
The platinum has the highest allocation, followed by Gold, and then Silver.
The silver plan is ideal for middle income earners, business people, entrepreneurs, and for individuals and families looking for a wide hospital choice.
You will access Britam’s open panel of Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III hospitals, just like the Platinum and Gold plans, but at a lower price point.
The only difference is that you will have lower sub-limits to the same diseases and conditions than in Platinum and Gold plans.
- Open Hospital Panel: You will access all hospitals accredited by Britam including Tier II hospitals.
- Annual wellness package: You will enjoy routine wellness checks for preventive and early detection.
- Mental Health: This plan also includes psychiatric care.
If you want the utmost health coverage, pick Platinum, Gold, or Silver plan.
Now, let me shift to Milele plans with lower health coverage (still very competitive, do not get this wrong) with lower price points.
These plans make sure many people are accommodated in getting comprehensive health care.
They are more affordable, when still offering great medical cover.
